John was shocked to find that there was such clamour for his attention. He was an apple-a-day kind of guy. They were more consistent and trustworthy. He liked a hard pear but when they became soft the juice from the bite dribbled down his shirt. Bananas have to be just right but he could make a tasty loaf with soft ones.
He rearranged the fruit and took out the apple.
